Safety warnings and precautions
Main risks
- Being struck by traffic while placing or removing signs on the carriageway or hard shoulder.
- Low visibility due to dirt, worn reflective material or insufficient lighting, increasing the risk of collisions.
- Toppling or displacement due to wind, rain, traffic vibrations or uneven ground.
- Trips and falls caused by bases, tapes, cables or poorly positioned elements.
- Pinching or cuts when deploying/folding signs, tripods and clamps.
- Overheating, battery leaks or short circuits in battery-powered lighting devices.
- Damage to vehicle bodywork or other surfaces due to incorrect use of magnets, suction cups or adhesives.
- Excessive strain and injuries when lifting or carrying heavy bases.
Safe use
- Plan the placement from a safe area, assessing traffic, visibility and wind direction.
- Wear a high-visibility vest and gloves; if at night or in poor light, add supplementary lighting.
- Set out the signage progressively and visibly in the direction of travel; orient reflective surfaces towards oncoming vehicles.
- Ensure stability with suitable bases or ballast where appropriate; avoid soft or very uneven ground.
- Keep pedestrian routes, access points and hard shoulders clear; minimise loose cables or tapes that could cause trips.
- Before switching on lighting devices, check the condition of the batteries and that the covers are properly closed.
- Deploy and fold with care, keeping hands away from hinges and pinch points; secure the catches before use.
- In high winds or heavy rain, add extra securing or temporarily remove the signage if stability cannot be guaranteed.
- With magnetic or suction mounts, clean both surfaces to prevent falls and scratches.
Storage and maintenance
- Clean periodically with a soft cloth and neutral soap; avoid solvents and abrasives that damage reflectivity.
- Dry thoroughly before storing to prevent corrosion and mould.
- Store in a dry, ventilated place, protected from sunlight and extreme heat to preserve colours and reflective bands.
- Do not place weight on reflective faces; store in a way that prevents deformation.
- Regularly check for cracks, deformations, loose fasteners, and peeling adhesives or bands; replace damaged items.
- For lighting devices, remove the batteries if not using them for prolonged periods and check their condition before each use.
- Keep magnets, suction cups and contact surfaces clean to ensure secure attachment and prevent damage.
Restrictions of use
- Do not use signs or accessories as supports for people, as a ladder, as a barrier, or for lifting loads.
- Do not modify, drill, paint or attach items that reduce visibility, stability or reflectivity.
- Do not use electrical devices in heavy rain or submerged in water unless specifically designed for this purpose.
- Do not place signage on moving vehicles; magnetic or suction accessories are intended for stationary vehicles.
- Do not use on very unstable, slippery or steeply sloped surfaces without additional securing measures.
- Keep these products out of the reach of children and always use them under adult supervision in areas open to traffic.
- Avoid use in extreme weather if secure fixing cannot be guaranteed.
- Do not block access points, exits, fire hydrants or pedestrian crossings with the signage.
