Usage Warnings
Ceiling Roses
Safety warnings and precautions
Main risks
- Electric shock from working on live circuits or making faulty connections.
- Overheating or fire caused by loose terminals, pinched cables, or use near heat sources.
- Falling of the luminaire due to inadequate anchoring, incorrect fixings, or lack of cable retention.
- Damage to the ceiling (plaster, plasterboard, brick) from using unsuitable wall plugs or screws.
- Cuts or scratches when handling edges or tools.
- Corrosion in humid environments that can weaken fixings and connections.
- Trapping or damage to the cable insulation when closing the ceiling rose without sufficient slack.
Safe use
- Switch off power at the consumer unit and verify the absence of voltage before installing or adjusting.
- Check compatibility with the luminaire and the maximum weight permitted by the assembly; do not suspend the weight by the cable alone.
- Use fixings suitable for the ceiling type (concrete, brick, plasterboard) and anchor the support firmly.
- Use the cable gland or cable retainer if provided and leave slack to avoid pulls on the connections.
- Make connections in suitable terminals, tightened properly and with no stray strands visible; connect the earth to metal parts where applicable.
- Avoid pinching cables when closing the ceiling rose and respect the cable diameter supported by the grommets.
- Keep clear of transformers, drivers or other heat sources; do not enclose components that require ventilation if the ceiling rose is not designed for it.
- In bathrooms or damp areas, use only models and fittings suitable for that environment and avoid splashes if the product does not permit them.
- Before energising, verify the fastening by gently pulling the luminaire and the cable.
Storage and maintenance
- Store the parts in a dry place, protected from dust and impacts; avoid loads that could deform the ceiling rose.
- Keep screws, wall plugs and small parts in their bag to avoid losing them or mixing them.
- Avoid extreme temperatures and prolonged sun exposure that could deform plastics or deteriorate finishes.
- With the power off, periodically check the tightness of screws and terminals, the condition of the cable and the cable gland, and the absence of discolouration or a burning smell.
- Clean with a dry or slightly damp cloth; do not use abrasives or solvents. Dry thoroughly before reassembly.
- Replace any part with cracks, corrosion, stripped threads or loose terminals.
Restrictions of use
- Do not use outdoors or in splash zones unless expressly stated by the product.
- Do not exceed the permitted luminaire weight, nor use the assembly to suspend anything other than lighting.
- Do not modify holes or drill additional ones that could weaken the part or damage the wiring.
- Do not use damaged wall plugs or screws, or cables with damaged insulation.
- Do not install on unstable ceilings, with active damp or unrepaired cracks.
- Keep small parts out of the reach of children. If you lack basic knowledge of electricity and fixings, consider installation by a qualified professional.
