Safety warnings and precautions
Main risks
- Risk of electric shock from damaged or wet plugs, cables or controls.
- Burns from touching the bulb or parts that become hot after prolonged use.
- Fire due to overheating if the lamp is covered, unsuitable bulbs are used or it is placed next to textiles or other combustible materials.
- Impacts, cuts and damage from dropping or tipping over, with possible breakage of the shade or bulb.
- Trips or tugs caused by a poorly routed cable.
- Glare or eye strain from very intense direct light.
- Damage from moisture, condensation or splashes.
Safe use
- Place the lamp on a stable, level surface and away from the edge.
- Keep clear space around it and avoid contact with curtains, papers or other combustible materials.
- Do not cover the shade or the light source; allow proper ventilation and heat dissipation.
- Use only bulbs of the type and wattage specified by the manufacturer; if using a dimmer, check compatibility.
- Connect to a socket in good condition and avoid overloaded extension leads or daisy-chained adaptors.
- Unplug and allow to cool before changing the bulb, moving the lamp or cleaning; always handle with dry hands.
- Route the cable so it does not cross walkways; do not step on it, pinch it under furniture or run it over sharp edges or near heat sources.
- Direct the light to reduce glare and direct reflections into the eyes.
Storage and maintenance
- Unplug the lamp if it will not be used for prolonged periods.
- Store it in a dry, dust-protected place; avoid impacts to the shade and bulb.
- Clean when the lamp is cool using a dry or slightly damp cloth; do not apply liquids to electrical parts or use abrasive products.
- Periodically check the cable, plug, switch and areas near the bulb; if you notice wear, cracks, a burning smell or abnormal heating, stop using it.
- Replace a blown bulb with a compatible one and fit it without forcing.
- If the model is rechargeable, use the charger specified by the manufacturer, do not cover the lamp while charging and avoid extreme temperatures.
Restrictions on use
- Do not use the lamp outdoors or in bathrooms or other damp areas, unless the product explicitly states otherwise.
- Do not use bulbs with a higher wattage than recommended or modify the cable, plug or base.
- Do not cover the lamp with fabrics, paper or objects, or place anything on top of the shade.
- Do not leave the lamp on for prolonged periods without supervision or while sleeping, especially near combustible materials.
- Keep the lamp out of reach of young children and pets; position the cable where they cannot pull on it.
- Do not use the lamp if it shows visible damage, sparks, a burning smell or unusual noises.
- Before connecting to dimmers, timers or smart plugs, ensure compatibility of the setup.
