Safety warnings and precautions

Main risks

  • Device falls due to insufficient fixing, with possible damage or injury.
  • Electrical risk from using unsuitable or damaged adaptors, cables or connections.
  • Overheating if the equipment is covered or placed near heat sources.
  • Water or dust ingress when used outdoors without protection suitable for the model.
  • Trips or tugs caused by loose cables in walkways.
  • Accidents when drilling walls/ceilings (striking cables or pipes) or when using ladders.
  • Battery-related risks (if the model includes them): leakage, swelling or fire due to improper charging or handling.
  • Unauthorised access to images and audio due to weak passwords or insecure configuration.
  • Small parts, magnetic mounts or adhesives that may pose a hazard to children and pets.

Safe use

  • Install the camera on a solid, level surface; use wall plugs and fixings appropriate to the material. Avoid relying solely on adhesives in hot or humid areas.
  • Place the device out of reach of children and pets and at a height that reduces tampering and knocks.
  • Manage cabling with cable ties or trunking; keep cables away from walkways and do not pinch them under doors or furniture.
  • Use only compatible adaptors and cables in good condition. Do not overload multi-way adaptors or extension leads.
  • Disconnect power before moving, cleaning or changing the memory card.
  • Do not cover the device or obstruct its ventilation; keep it away from radiators, heaters and prolonged direct sunlight.
  • For outdoor use, protect the connections and orient the camera to minimise direct exposure to rain and splashes as per the model’s intended use.
  • If battery-powered, charge on a non-flammable surface with a compatible charger and take the camera out of service if you detect swelling, an unusual odour or abnormal temperature.
  • Before drilling, check for wiring or pipes; use a stable ladder and, where appropriate, eye protection and gloves.
  • Strengthen digital security: change default passwords, use strong passwords, limit access and enable two-step verification if available.

Storage and maintenance

  • Clean the lens with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid abrasive products or applying liquids directly to the camera.
  • Periodically check screw tightness, the integrity of mounts/adhesives and the condition of cabling; replace damaged parts.
  • Inspect adaptors and plugs; do not use components with cracks, deformation or signs of overheating.
  • For outdoor installations, check gaskets, caps and seals after rain or frost and remove dirt, dust or insects.
  • Keep slots and microphones free of dust for stable operation.
  • Update the software when offered by the manufacturer and handle memory cards securely (encryption/secure erasure where appropriate).
  • For long periods without use, store in a dry, moderate, well-ventilated place. If the battery is removable, store it separately at partial charge and protect the contacts.
  • Before selling, recycling or disposing of it, reset the device and erase data from memory cards.

Restrictions of use

  • Not a toy. Keep out of reach of children and do not allow handling without supervision.
  • Do not use the device in potentially explosive atmospheres, environments with extreme steam (saunas) or in direct rainfall if the model is not designed for it.
  • Do not modify the casing, connectors or wiring, nor drill the unit to route cables.
  • Do not use the camera if it shows visible damage, a burning smell or abnormal heating; disconnect it immediately.
  • Do not rely solely on the camera to manage emergencies or personal safety; supplement it with other measures.
  • Avoid aiming or positioning the camera in a way that invades others’ privacy or captures areas without permission.
  • Do not charge batteries under pillows, inside closed drawers or covered by fabrics.
  • If the mount is magnetic, keep it away from magnetic cards or sensitive devices.
