Safety warnings and precautions

Main risks

  • Falls or tip-overs caused by leaning back, sitting on the edge, or using the chair on uneven or slippery floors.
  • Finger entrapment in hinges and moving parts (folding, swivelling, adjustment or castors).
  • Injuries from using the chair as a step to reach high objects.
  • Breakage or instability due to overloading, incomplete assembly or loose screws/fixings.
  • Burns or material damage when placed near heaters, radiators or open flames.
  • Floor damage and slipping due to worn feet or castors.
  • Risks to children: climbing, rocking or playing may cause tip-overs and entrapment.

Safe use

  • Place the chair on a firm, level surface; avoid slippery rugs or very thick carpets without a non-slip underlay.
  • Sit with your weight centred and all four legs on the floor; do not rock or balance the chair on two legs.
  • One person per chair; do not stand on it or use the backrest or armrests as a seat.
  • Before use, check stability and ensure no screws, end caps or glides are missing or loose.
  • On models with castors or a swivel mechanism, move slowly and avoid slopes; if fitted with brakes, lock the castors when you want to remain stationary.
  • On folding chairs, keep fingers clear of the hinges when opening or closing and check that the lock engages fully.
  • Keep a safe distance from heat sources and flames.
  • To move it, lift it; dragging it can damage legs and floors.

Storage and maintenance

  • Store indoors in a dry, ventilated place, away from moisture, excessive heat and prolonged direct sunlight.
  • Clean with a soft cloth and non-abrasive products compatible with the material; wipe up spills immediately.
  • Periodically check joints, screws, legs, end caps and castors; re-tighten and replace worn or loose parts. If you cannot ensure stability, stop using the chair.
  • Replace feet or felt pads when worn to prevent slipping and scratches.
  • If stackable, stack only as specified by the manufacturer and on a flat surface; place protectors between seats to prevent rubbing.
  • For folding chairs, store closed and secured to prevent accidental opening.
  • Keep small spare parts out of the reach of children.

Usage restrictions

  • For indoor use only unless expressly stated otherwise by the manufacturer.
  • Do not use as a ladder, work platform, step or to transport another person.
  • Do not exceed the recommended load or subject it to sudden impacts.
  • Do not use on wet, unstable or steeply sloped surfaces.
  • Do not sit on the backrest or the armrests; avoid leaning sideways abruptly.
  • Children: always use under supervision; keep them away from wheeled, swivelling, folding or stacked chairs; do not allow them to jump or climb on them.
  • Do not operate adjustment or folding mechanisms during use or by children.
