Safety warnings and precautions
Main risks
- Burns from excessively hot water, or from hot surfaces and hot flue outlets (gas models).
- Carbon monoxide poisoning due to poor combustion or insufficient ventilation (gas models).
- Fire or explosion from gas leaks or improper combustion (gas models).
- Electric shock or short circuits due to moisture, damaged cables or improper connections (electric models).
- System overpressure with possible leaks, ruptures or discharge of high-temperature water if the safety valve fails to operate.
- Flooding and damage from drips, deteriorated hoses or seals.
- Damage due to water freezing in the unit or pipework in cold climates.
- Appliance falling or coming loose due to inadequate fixings.
- Microbiological risk in storage tanks if maintained at very low temperatures for long periods.
Safe use
- Have installation, commissioning and inspections carried out by qualified personnel, following the manufacturer's instructions.
- Ensure adequate ventilation and an unobstructed flue gas discharge; do not cover grilles or ducts (gas models).
- Set the temperature to a moderate level to prevent scalding and test the water before bathing or showering, especially for children.
- Keep the area around the heater clear; keep combustible materials away and do not cover the appliance.
- Do not handle electrical, gas or water connections with wet hands; disconnect the relevant supply before working on the unit.
- Periodically check for the smell of gas, unusual noises, water leaks or signs of overheating; if you notice any irregularity, switch off the unit and shut off the relevant supply.
- Do not block or bypass safety devices (valves, thermostats, flame sensors, etc.).
- Use only compatible accessories, hoses and fittings recommended by the manufacturer.
Storage and maintenance
- Disconnect the power and shut off gas and water before any cleaning or inspection.
- Check and gently clean air inlets, grilles, filters and ducts; avoid corrosive products and high-pressure water.
- Periodically inspect hoses, connections, seals and the safety valve; replace any deteriorated components.
- Flush out sediments and descale when appropriate, especially in hard-water areas, following the manufacturer's recommendations.
- In unoccupied homes or where there is a risk of frost, drain the unit if permitted by the manufacturer and protect the pipework against the cold.
- Keep connections and the surrounding area dry; address any dripping immediately.
- Keep the user manual accessible and do not remove safety or flow-direction labels.
Usage restrictions
- Do not use the heater outdoors or in enclosed spaces without the ventilation specified by the manufacturer.
- Do not use it to heat liquids other than water or for unintended purposes (e.g., industrial).
- Do not allow children to operate the controls; exercise extra supervision with older adults or people with reduced mobility.
- Do not modify the appliance or add holes, extensions or non-approved accessories; do not disable valves or sensors.
- Do not hang any weight from the unit or the pipework; avoid shocks and vibrations.
- Do not use the equipment if you detect a smell of gas, unstable flames, sparks, heat-related discolouration or significant leaks; shut off the supplies and seek technical assistance.
