Safety warnings and precautions
Main risks
- Impacts, falls or the carrier tipping over if it is not properly secured or the base is unstable.
- Poor ventilation and overheating, especially in vehicles in the sun or in hot environments; also risk from extreme cold.
- Escapes due to poorly adjusted fastenings, open zips or torn mesh.
- Trapping of paws, tail or fur in grilles, hinges, zips or wheels (if the model includes them).
- Injuries to the handler from lifting weight improperly or gripping areas not designed for it.
- Animal stress, dizziness or nausea due to excessive movement or prolonged journeys.
- Bites or scratches when putting the animal in or taking it out if it feels insecure.
Safe use
- Choose a size that allows the animal to stand up, turn around and lie down comfortably, without excessive slack that could cause it to shift abruptly.
- Observe the maximum weight recommended by the manufacturer and check the balance before lifting it.
- Before each use, check that doors, buckles, zips and anchor points close properly and are not loose.
- Keep ventilation grilles clear; avoid covering the carrier completely with blankets or luggage.
- In a vehicle, place it on a stable surface and secure it using the designated fixing points or the seat belt; avoid the front seat if an airbag is active.
- Place a padded, non-slip base inside and remove hard objects or items with small parts that could come loose.
- Gradually acclimatise the animal with short sessions and positive reinforcement; on long journeys, take breaks and offer water when possible, according to the species.
- Avoid long leads or accessories that could become tangled; ensure the collar or harness cannot catch on the grille.
- When lifting, use the intended handles, keep your back straight and support it at two points; if the model has wheels, watch fingers and paws when rolling and lift it to go up steps.
Storage and maintenance
- Clean regularly with warm water and mild detergent; rinse and dry thoroughly to prevent mould and bad odours.
- Wash covers and padding according to the manufacturer’s instructions and allow to dry completely before reusing.
- Periodically check the frame, mesh, seams, zips, hinges, wheels and handles; replace damaged parts or the carrier if it does not close properly or is deformed.
- Keep the fasteners and zip tracks free of dirt and hair to prevent jamming.
- Store in a dry, ventilated and shaded place; avoid humidity, direct heat and placing weight on top that could deform it.
- If it is foldable or detachable, secure the parts correctly and keep the screws out of reach of animals and children.
Usage restrictions
- Not suitable for transporting people, children or loads not intended for animals.
- Do not use with animals that exceed the recommended weight or size, nor as permanent housing.
- Do not leave the animal inside unsupervised in vehicles or places with extreme temperatures.
- Do not use on motorbikes, bicycles or other vehicles without fixing systems specific to the model.
- Do not hang or lift the carrier by the door, grille or mesh; do not hold it by a single point if it is heavy.
- Do not place the carrier on elevated, unstable surfaces when the animal is inside, nor stack luggage on top.
- Do not allow children to handle or carry the carrier with the animal inside; adult supervision is required.
- Do not administer sedatives on your own. Before travelling with transport companies, confirm the requirements for dimensions, type of carrier and securing.
