Safety warnings and precautions
Main risks
- Electric shock due to damaged cables, wet plugs or unsuitable sockets.
- Overheating and fire if ventilation grilles are obstructed or if used with extension leads or power strips.
- Tipping of the appliance, especially in tall or poorly levelled models, and finger trapping when closing the door.
- Breakage of bottles or glass shelves due to overloading, impacts or uneven weight distribution.
- Leakage from the refrigeration circuit if the appliance is pierced; the refrigerant may be flammable.
- Water from condensation or defrosting that may cause slips or damage the surroundings.
- Hazard to children from playing, climbing or becoming trapped inside the appliance.
- Vibrations and abnormal noises that may indicate an unstable installation.
Safe use
- Connect the wine cooler to a dedicated earthed socket, without power strips, adapters or taut cables.
- Install on a firm, level surface; adjust the feet to prevent vibrations and movement.
- Maintain the ventilation clearances; do not cover grilles or recess the appliance unless intended.
- After transport, keep it upright and let it stand before switching on.
- Load the shelves without exceeding their capacity; distribute the weight and secure the bottles to prevent falls.
- Close the door gently and check that the door seal makes good contact to prevent condensation.
- Do not drill, screw into or use sharp objects to remove ice; this could damage the refrigeration circuit.
- Keep the wine cooler away from heat sources and direct sunlight.
- Disconnect from the mains before cleaning; use a soft cloth and avoid abrasive products or water jets.
- Adjust the temperature with care to avoid bottles freezing.
- To reverse the door or fittings, follow the manufacturer's instructions; on tall models, consider using anchors if provided.
Storage and maintenance
- Place the appliance indoors in a dry location and within the ambient temperature range recommended by the manufacturer.
- Keep the grilles clear and clean; remove dust and dirt that impede ventilation.
- Periodically clean the door seals and dry any condensation; empty the drip tray if fitted.
- Inspect the cable and plug; if damaged, do not use the appliance until it has been checked by qualified personnel.
- For prolonged absences, disconnect, empty, clean and leave the door ajar for ventilation.
- If you need to move it, empty the interior, protect shelves and bottles, and keep it upright.
Restrictions of use
- For indoor use only; do not use outdoors, on terraces, in bathrooms or in very humid areas.
- Do not store aerosols, solvents, fuels or other volatile or flammable substances.
- Do not use with power strips, multi-way adapters or extension leads.
- Do not sit, stand or lean on the door or shelves; do not use as a step or worktop.
- Do not use to store highly perishable foods, medicines or other products that require strict control.
- Keep out of reach of children; do not allow them to play with the door or hang from it.
- If you detect a smell of gas or suspect a leak, ventilate, switch off the appliance and keep any sources of ignition away.
