Safety warnings and precautions
Main risks
- Heavy weight: risk of injury, trapped fingers, and the worktop being dropped during transport or installation.
- Edges and corners: potential for cuts and knocks, especially in walkways.
- Direct heat from pots and pans: danger of burns and discolouration, cracking or warping of the material.
- Standing moisture in joints and around the sink or hob: risk of mould, unpleasant odours and deterioration of the seals.
- Impacts and point loads: breakage or cracks with sharp edges.
- Slippery surface due to water, oils or grease: dropped objects and accidents.
- Harsh cleaning products or improper mixtures: stains, discolouration and irritating fumes.
Safe use
- Handle the worktop with two or more people, wearing protective gloves and closed-toe footwear. Hold it by the long edges and avoid lifting it by the sink or hob cut-outs.
- Place it on a level base with continuous supports. Avoid long overhangs without reinforcement.
- Use trivets or stands for hot containers. Do not place pots or pans straight from the hob or oven directly on the surface.
- Use a chopping board. Avoid cutting directly on the surface to prevent damage and maintain proper hygiene.
- Wipe up spills immediately (water, oils, wine, lemon, vinegar) and clean around the sink area to protect joints and edges.
- Check and maintain the perimeter seals of the sink and hob; replace them if they crack or come away.
- Do not stand or sit on the worktop, and do not use the surface as a stepladder.
- Do not drag appliances or heavy objects; lift them to move and avoid impacts on the edges.
- During installation or adjustments, keep the area clear and keep children and pets away. If working in areas near water or electricity, exercise extra caution.
Storage and maintenance
- Before installation, store the worktop horizontally on a flat, dry and stable surface, protected from the weather and direct sunlight. Do not support it only at the ends.
- Protect the edges with the original packaging or corner protectors and avoid impacts during transport.
- For materials sensitive to moisture or thermal changes (e.g., wood or laminates), avoid very humid or hot environments and allow them to acclimatise in the room before installation.
- Daily cleaning with a soft cloth, water and a neutral detergent. Avoid abrasive scourers, stripping agents and strong solvents.
- Do not mix cleaners (for example, bleach and ammonia). Ventilate while cleaning and rinse away product residues thoroughly.
- Remove limescale and stains with products compatible with the material; test first in an inconspicuous area.
- Periodically check joints, brackets and seals; renew the sealant if you notice cracks or it coming away. If the material requires it, apply oils or sealers following the manufacturer's instructions.
Restrictions of use
- Indoor use unless the product expressly states it is suitable for outdoor use.
- Do not expose the worktop to direct flame or prolonged sources of extreme heat.
- Do not drill, cut or modify the worktop without the right experience and tools; avoid doing so without identifying possible hidden pipes or cables.
- Do not place excessive loads on unsupported areas (overhangs, sink or hob cut-outs).
- Keep children away from edges and corners; consider protectors if there is a risk of knocks in walkways.
- Do not use industrial chemicals, concentrated acids or stripping agents on the surface.
