Usage Warnings
Pool Water Filters and Pumps
Safety warnings and precautions
Main risks
- Electric shock from water contacting plugs, cables or deteriorated connections.
- Suction entrapment at inlets or hoses if grilles are missing or damaged; risk to hair, loose clothing and fingers.
- Overpressure in filters, lids and hoses; opening under pressure may result in ejection of water or parts.
- Injuries from moving parts and unexpected motor start-up.
- Pump overheating due to dry running, blockages or poor ventilation.
- Leaks and flooding that may cause slips and property damage.
- Skin, eye or respiratory irritation from contact with pool chemicals.
- Noise and vibration that may loosen connections over time.
Safe use
- Install the pump and filter on a firm, level, well-ventilated surface; keep the area dry and clear of leaves and objects.
- Connect the equipment to a properly earthed socket with RCD (residual current device) protection; avoid extension leads and do not handle with wet hands.
- Keep cables and plugs out of drip areas; create a drip loop in the cable so water cannot run towards the plug.
- Check that lids, clamps and fittings are correctly seated before start-up.
- Do not run the pump dry; prime it as specified by the manufacturer and ensure there is water flow.
- Do not change valve positions or the multiport valve while the pump is running; switch off and wait until it has come to a complete stop.
- Before opening the pre-filter or the filter, switch off the unit and release pressure using the bleed valve indicated on the appliance.
- Keep hair, clothing, tools and hands away from suction inlets; do not use the system if grilles or covers are missing.
- When handling chemicals near the equipment, wear gloves and goggles, ventilate the area and do not mix different products.
- Monitor the pressure gauge and flow; if you notice unusual noises, strong vibration or a burning odour, switch off immediately and check the installation.
Storage and maintenance
- Switch off and unplug from the mains before any cleaning or intervention; wait for the motor to stop and for pressure to drop to zero.
- Regularly clean the pre-filter basket and remove debris that could obstruct flow; backwash the filter when necessary.
- Regularly inspect hoses, fittings, clamps, seals and lids; replace items that are cracked, swollen or leaking.
- Keep the motor ventilation grilles free of dust and dirt to aid cooling.
- Tighten connections with reasonable firmness, avoiding forcing threads or over-tightening clamps.
- Protect the equipment from direct rain and continuous splashing if it is not designed for it.
- In winter or during long periods without use, drain the pump, filter and pipework completely to prevent frost damage; store accessories in a dry place protected from the sun.
- Check the condition of the cable and plug; if there are cuts, crushing or loose contacts, do not use the equipment until they are replaced.
Restrictions of use
- Do not use the pump or filter with liquids other than treated pool water, nor with flammable or concentrated corrosive substances.
- Do not cover the motor or obstruct its ventilation grilles; avoid unventilated enclosures.
- Do not exceed the working pressure specified by the manufacturer or block the water outlet; do not fully close valves with the pump running.
- Do not use the equipment if lids, grilles or clamps are missing, or if there are cracked components.
- Do not replace connections, cables or plugs with unsuitable ones, nor make improvised splices.
- Do not use the pump submerged or outdoors in the rain if the model is not designed for it.
- Do not allow children or pets to approach or handle the equipment; keep the machinery area closed or inaccessible.
- Do not operate below freezing temperatures or leave water inside the equipment when there is a risk of frost.
- Do not bleed, open or change valves while the system is pressurised or the equipment is running.
