Main risks

  • Suffocation or smothering from loose fabrics, cushions, soft toys or cot bumpers inside the cot.
  • Strangulation or entanglement from cords, ties, mosquito nets or ribbons within the baby's reach.
  • Entrapment in gaps between the accessory, the mattress and the cot bars if it does not fit well.
  • Choking on small parts, decorations or fillings if the seams break.
  • Overheating and reduced ventilation if the cot is covered with dense fabrics.
  • Falls or climbing if the accessory is used as a foothold to climb.
  • Skin irritation or discomfort due to unsuitable materials or laundry products.
  • Fire risk if fabrics are placed near heat sources or flames.

Safe use

  • Keep the sleep area clear: remove soft or decorative accessories during naps and at night.
  • Fit each accessory firmly and without slack, following the manufacturer's instructions.
  • Keep ribbons and cords out of reach; avoid loops or ties in the sleep area.
  • Check fastenings, hook-and-loop fasteners, zips and buttons before each use; if they are loose, do not use it.
  • Do not cover the cot completely with fabrics; ensure good ventilation and that nothing covers the baby's face.
  • Place organisers or pocket tidies on the outside of the cot and out of the baby's reach.
  • Remove canopies, mosquito nets or mobiles as soon as the baby can sit up or reach them.
  • Keep accessories away from radiators, heaters, candles or other heat sources.
  • Remove bags and plastic packaging immediately.

Storage and maintenance

  • Wash textiles before first use and regularly according to the care label; use a mild detergent and rinse well.
  • Dry completely before refitting to prevent damp and mould.
  • Inspect seams, fillings, fastenings and decorations; if there are tears or loose filling, stop using the accessory.
  • Store clean products in a dry, ventilated place, out of reach of children and pets.
  • Keep small parts and hardware in a sealed bag and separate from the sleep area.
  • Replace the accessory if it loses firmness, becomes misshapen or no longer fits correctly.
  • Do not modify the product or add improvised elements; use only the intended fastening systems.

Usage restrictions

  • Do not place soft objects, soft toys, padded accessories or items with cords inside the cot during the baby's sleep.
  • Do not use accessories that immobilise the baby or keep them in a fixed position while sleeping.
  • Do not use the accessory if it does not fit correctly in the cot, Moses basket or bedside crib as specified by the manufacturer.
  • Do not hang accessories inside the cot at the baby's level or over the mattress.
  • Do not leave the baby unattended when there are loose or detachable accessories in the sleep area.
  • Do not use mosquito nets, canopies or long fabrics when the baby can reach or pull them.
  • Do not use these accessories near open flames or intense heat sources.
