Usage Warnings
Electric Coffee Machines
Warnings and safety precautions
Main risks
- Burns and scalds from hot surfaces, steam and high-temperature water.
- Splashes when pouring or removing the carafe during or immediately after brewing.
- Residual pressure in espresso machines: premature opening of the portafilter or the tank lid.
- Electric shock from contact with water, mains sockets or damaged plugs/leads, or improper use.
- Fire or overheating from covering vents or heat outlets, leaving it on, or using it near flammable materials.
- Breakage of the glass carafe or other fragile components, with a risk of cuts and spills.
- Tipping of the appliance or tugs on the power lead that cause spills of hot liquids.
- Blockages due to limescale or coffee residues that may cause irregular dripping or a sudden release of steam/water.
Safe use
- Place the coffee machine on a stable, level and dry surface, away from the edge and from curtains, paper or low furniture.
- Keep the steam outlet area clear and always direct it away from your body.
- Connect to a socket in good condition; keep the lead away from edges and hot surfaces and prevent it from hanging.
- Fill only with cold drinking water to the indicated level; do not exceed the maximum, nor add milk or other liquids to the tank unless the model permits it.
- Fit filters, capsules or portafilters correctly without forcing; start only when everything is properly in place.
- Do not open lids, portafilters or tanks during operation; wait for bubbling/steam to cease and, for espresso, for the pressure to drop.
- Use handles and knobs; pour slowly to reduce splashes; do not touch the hotplate, nozzles or the steam wand until they have cooled.
- If your model includes a grinder or moving parts, keep hands, hair and utensils away during use.
- Do not leave the coffee machine unattended while heating or using steam; switch it off after use.
- If you notice a burning smell, smoke, sparks or unusual noises, switch off and unplug immediately.
Storage and maintenance
- Unplug and allow to cool before cleaning or moving.
- Do not immerse the base or body in water; clean the exterior with a slightly damp cloth and dry thoroughly.
- Empty and rinse the tank and carafe daily; avoid leaving standing water.
- Descale at the frequency recommended for your water; use compatible products and rinse several times after the process.
- Clean the steam wand, nozzles and portafilters after each use to prevent blockages; purge briefly, pointing away from yourself.
- Regularly check the lead, plug, carafe and seals; if they are damaged, do not use the appliance until it has been inspected by qualified personnel.
- Replace disposable filters after each cycle; do not reuse single-use filters.
- Do not store the coffee machine with moisture in its base; store it in a dry, well-ventilated place, with the lead neatly coiled.
- Check that the carafe has no cracks before each use.
Usage restrictions
- For indoor use and dry environments; do not use outdoors or in damp areas unless the product is designed for it.
- Not a toy: keep it out of the reach of children; close adult supervision is required when children are nearby.
- People with reduced physical, sensory or cognitive capabilities should use it only with appropriate supervision.
- Avoid extension leads and power strips if they do not support the appliance’s power rating; do not overload the socket.
- Do not use the coffee machine without water when the cycle requires it, nor leave the carafe empty on the hotplate for a prolonged period.
- Do not cover ventilation openings or steam outlets and do not insert objects inside.
- Do not move the appliance while it is operating or contains hot liquids.
- Do not modify the equipment or use accessories, capsules or parts not intended for your model.
