Safety warnings and precautions
Main risks
- Electrical hazard from contact with water, tank spillages, or damaged plugs and cables.
- Overheating and possible damage if the air intake/outlet grilles are obstructed or the unit is covered.
- Tipping of the appliance or tripping over the cable or the drain hose.
- Build-up of condensate and slips if spilt when emptying the tank.
- Warm surfaces and air outlet that may overheat fabrics or nearby objects.
- In compressor models, possible refrigerant leak if the circuit is punctured or struck.
Safe use
- Place the dehumidifier on a stable, level surface, leaving clear space around it for air circulation. Do not cover the grilles or block them with curtains or furniture.
- Use the appliance indoors in dry areas and out of direct splash zones. Do not use it in showers or baths or in areas where it may get wet.
- Plug directly into a mains socket in good condition. Avoid overloaded multi-socket adaptors or extension leads and never use the unit with a damaged cable or plug.
- Do not handle it with wet hands. Switch off and unplug before moving, cleaning or emptying the tank.
- Empty the tank carefully to avoid spillage; wipe up any water on the floor immediately.
- If using a continuous drain hose, secure it firmly and route it to a suitable drain, avoiding kinks that could obstruct the flow and walkways where it could be a trip hazard.
- Do not insert objects into the grilles or place clothing on top to dry.
- After transport, keep it upright for the time recommended by the manufacturer before switching it on.
- Observe the temperature and humidity range specified by the manufacturer to prevent ice build-up or abnormal operation.
Storage and maintenance
- Clean filters and grilles periodically following the manufacturer’s instructions; dust build-up reduces performance and can cause unnecessary heating.
- Always unplug before cleaning. Use a slightly damp cloth; do not pour water or chemicals into the unit.
- Empty and dry the tank before storing the appliance to prevent bad odours or mould.
- Store it in a dry, ventilated place, protected from frost, high humidity and direct sunlight.
- Regularly check the cable and plug. If you notice a burning smell, sparking, damage to the casing or unusual noises, switch off and unplug the unit and do not use it until it has been inspected by the manufacturer’s service centre.
Usage restrictions
- Intended for indoor domestic environments. Do not use outdoors or in areas with airborne dust, corrosive vapours or potentially explosive atmospheres.
- Do not place the appliance near heat sources, naked flames, stoves or radiators, nor cover it with fabrics or other materials.
- Do not use the dehumidifier if the tank, casing, cable or connections show damage, cracks or leaks.
- If you suspect a refrigerant leak (unusual odour and loss of performance in compressor models), ventilate the area, keep flames or sparks away and do not switch the appliance on.
- Supervise use in homes with children, people with reduced mobility or pets. Keep the cable, hose and tank out of their reach.
- Do not block corridors or escape routes with the unit, cable or hose.
