Usage Warnings

Bed Rails

Safety warnings and precautions

Main risks

  • Falls if the bed rail is incorrectly installed, loose or too low in relation to the mattress.
  • Entrapment between the bed rail and the mattress, wall, headboard or footboard; risk of suffocation or strangulation due to gaps, straps or bedding.
  • Impact or pinch injuries when unfolding, lowering or locking the mechanisms.
  • Movement or tipping of the bed rail on incompatible slatted bases or frames.
  • Using it as a support or as a ladder, with a risk of tipping or falling, especially for children.
  • Additional risks on adjustable beds if gaps appear during movements.

Safe use

  • Check compatibility with the bed type, base and mattress thickness. Install according to the manufacturer’s instructions and check the fixings before each use.
  • Adjust the bed rail leaving no hazardous gaps with the mattress, the wall or the headboard. If the gaps cannot be eliminated, do not use it.
  • Ensure catches and locks are fully engaged. Apply inward and outward pressure to confirm stability.
  • Fully lower the bed rail to get in or out of bed, and provide assistance to anyone who needs it.
  • Do not sit, stand or place your full weight on the bed rail. Do not use it as a ladder or as a handhold to pull yourself up.
  • Keep cords, cables, mosquito nets, curtains and loose bedding away from the bed rail and its fixings.
  • On adjustable beds, run a full movement cycle and check that no gaps or rubbing occur; stop using it if it shifts.
  • Monitor the first few nights after installation to detect movement, looseness or habits that may pose risks.

Storage and maintenance

  • Periodically check screws, straps, fixings and bars. Retighten if there is any play and remove the product if you detect cracks, deformation or loose parts.
  • Clean with a soft, slightly damp cloth and dry thoroughly. Avoid abrasive products that could damage plastics, paints or metals.
  • Keep the locking mechanisms and joints free from dust, fluff and objects that prevent full closure.
  • Re-adjust the installation after changing the mattress, adding toppers or modifying the bed base.
  • Store the bed rail in a dry, ventilated place away from heat sources. Do not place weight on top, and keep accessories and hardware together and out of the reach of children.

Restrictions of use

  • Do not use on cots, mini cots, baby beds, waterbeds, inflatables or very soft or overly thin surfaces.
  • Do not install on bunk beds (especially the top bunk) or on structures where it cannot be secured safely.
  • Do not use if you cannot eliminate gaps between the bed rail and the mattress, or between the bed rail and the wall, headboard or footboard.
  • Avoid fully enclosing the user between two bed rails if there is no safe, accessible exit.
  • Adult supervision is required when used by a minor or by a person with reduced mobility, perception or orientation, or with agitated behaviour.
  • Do not modify, drill or add padding, straps or extensions not specified by the manufacturer.
  • Observe the usage limits specified by the manufacturer and stop using the product if it shows damage or if the user can climb over it.
