Safety warnings and precautions
Main risks
- Tipping or collapse due to overloading or failing to deploy the structure correctly.
- Finger entrapment in hinges, extendable rails and folding mechanisms.
- Trips and slips caused by extended legs, low-hanging lines or water dripping onto the floor.
- Items blowing or falling outside from balconies or windows in windy conditions.
- Damage to walls or ceilings due to poor fixing on wall- or ceiling-mounted models.
- Minor cuts from edges, bent rods or rust on deteriorated parts.
- Risk of overheating if placed on or very close to heat sources or flames.
Safe use
- Fully unfold the clothes airer and ensure that latches or stops are securely engaged before hanging laundry.
- Distribute the weight evenly and avoid overloading; place the heaviest items on the lower section first to improve stability.
- Keep clear of heaters, radiators, hobs and candles; do not cover heating appliances with damp clothing.
- For wall- or ceiling-mounted models, use fixings appropriate to the surface material and check stability before loading.
- On balconies or outdoors, do not allow the structure or laundry to protrude over a drop, and secure garments with pegs on windy days.
- Keep walkways clear; avoid placing it in doorways, on stairs or across emergency exits. Wipe up any drips immediately.
- Keep hands away from hinges and pivot points when opening, closing or adjusting the height.
- If the model has wheels, engage the brakes during use.
- Ventilate the room to reduce moisture build-up and mould growth.
Storage and maintenance
- Fold and secure it before moving or storing to prevent accidental openings.
- Store it in a dry, sheltered place; dry the frame after outdoor use to prevent corrosion.
- Clean with a soft cloth and soapy water; avoid abrasive products that could damage coatings.
- Periodically check screws, lines, rods and anchor points; tighten, replace or repair any loose or damaged parts.
- Immediately replace bent rods, missing end caps or rusty parts that could snag or cut.
- In strong winds, fold away or remove outdoor airers to prevent movement or toppling.
- Protect moisture-sensitive floors with a tray or absorbent cloth under the airer.
Restrictions of use
- Not a seat, ladder or exercise bar: do not climb, swing or sit on the airer.
- Do not hang heavy, hard or sharp objects (weighted backpacks, tools, plant pots).
- Do not use on unstable or steeply sloped surfaces; avoid slippery rugs.
- Do not install wall- or ceiling-mounted models on hollow or weakened surfaces without suitable, robust fixings.
- Keep out of reach of children and pets; do not allow them to play with the structure or hang from the bars or lines.
- Do not place the airer where it blocks radiators, air vents, detectors or doors.
- Avoid use near overhead power lines or edges without a secure guardrail.
