Safety warnings and precautions
Main risks
- Injuries from the high-pressure jet (cuts, high-pressure injection of water or debris under the skin) and eye damage.
- Ejection of dislodged particles (stones, paint, rust) towards the user or bystanders.
- Risk of electric shock from splashes on sockets, damaged cables or wet connections.
- Slippery surfaces, tripping over hoses and loss of control due to trigger gun recoil.
- Damage to fragile surfaces, seals or paint due to excessive pressure or working too close.
- Skin and eye irritation from detergents or cleaning foams.
- High noise levels and prolonged vibration that may cause fatigue.
- Burns from hot water or hot parts on hot-water models or engine-driven units.
- Exposure to exhaust gases from petrol-powered equipment in enclosed spaces.
- Hose whip due to overpressure or loose connections.
Safe use
- Inspect the condition of the equipment before each use: hoses, connections, nozzles and power cable; do not use it if there are leaks, cuts or damage.
- Wear safety goggles, waterproof gloves and non-slip footwear; add hearing protection when noise levels are high.
- Never point the jet at people, animals or your own body; do not test the pressure with your hand.
- Start with the lowest pressure and increase gradually if the equipment allows; keep a safe distance from the surface.
- Hold the trigger gun firmly and work with a stable stance; avoid stepping on or straining the hose.
- Switch off and unplug the equipment and release the pressure before changing accessories or nozzles and before disconnecting the hose.
- Keep electrical connections dry and raised; use outdoor-rated extension leads and, if possible, with RCD protection.
- Avoid directing the jet at power sockets, distribution boards, light fittings, batteries or connected devices.
- Use only compatible detergents and at the dilution specified by the manufacturer; do not mix products.
- Avoid working on ladders or unstable surfaces; use suitable extension lances from the ground when necessary.
- For combustion-engine models, work only outdoors in well-ventilated areas; switch off and allow to cool before refuelling and keep away from sparks or flames.
- Take periodic breaks to avoid overheating; if it has a trigger lock, engage it when not in use.
Storage and maintenance
- Switch off, unplug and release system pressure before handling, draining or storing the equipment.
- Drain water from the pump, hose and accessories after use and protect it from frost.
- Clean and dry the equipment before storing it in a dry, ventilated place protected from direct sunlight.
- Coil the hose without kinks or strain and protect the nozzle from impacts.
- Check and replace seals, filters and nozzles if they are blocked or worn; clean the inlet filter when appropriate.
- Keep cables and plugs in good condition; do not use the equipment if they show cuts or makeshift repairs.
- Keep the unit away from heat sources or flames, especially if it uses fuel.
- Store detergents and fuels in their original containers, tightly closed and out of reach of children and pets.
- Periodically check for leaks and abnormal noises or vibrations; stop use until they are resolved.
- Follow the manufacturer’s instructions for periodic maintenance and replacement of consumables.
Restrictions of use
- For use by adults familiar with its operation only; keep children and pets away from the work area.
- Not to be used by minors or by persons unable to operate it safely without direct supervision.
- Do not use indoors or in enclosed spaces if the equipment has a combustion engine.
- Do not modify nozzles, hoses or safety systems; do not lock the trigger in the on position.
- Do not apply the jet at very close range to fragile surfaces, joints, seals or delicate paintwork.
- Do not use with flammable liquids, solvents, acids or other products not recommended by the manufacturer.
- Do not operate in heavy rain, during thunderstorms or with the equipment partially submerged.
- Do not direct the jet towards electrical sockets, electronic devices, distribution boards or sensitive installations.
- Do not use if you are under the influence of alcohol, drugs or medication that reduces alertness.
- Do not use dirty water containing particles that may clog or damage the equipment.
