Safety warnings and precautions
Main risks
- Snagging on machinery, tools or protruding edges due to drawcords, hoods, bulky pockets or loose parts.
- Thermal stress: overheating during physical exertion, or loss of heat if the garment is wet or insufficient for the temperature.
- Burns when exposed to sparks, spatter or flames if the jacket is not designed for this.
- Reduced mobility or limited field of vision due to improper sizing, overly rigid garments or poorly adjusted hoods.
- Skin irritation from sweat, accumulated dirt, or contact with oils and substances that the garment may absorb.
- Electrical risk when working near energised parts if the garment incorporates metal components (zips, press studs) or is wet.
- Low visibility in traffic areas or around moving machinery if the colour does not stand out in low-light conditions.
- Dropping objects or cross-contamination when carrying sharp parts or substances in the pockets.
Safe use
- Choose the right size and properly adjust cuffs, waist and hood to avoid slack that could catch.
- Fasten zips, buttons and hook-and-loop fasteners (Velcro) before starting work. Tuck away or secure drawcords and zip pulls.
- Avoid going near open flames, welding or very hot surfaces unless the garment is specified as suitable for such uses.
- In areas with moving parts, keep the jacket close to the body and avoid dangling elements; do not wear the garment open.
- Do not keep sharp or pointed objects in the pockets without a sheath, or containers without a secure closure.
- If the jacket becomes soaked with water, oils or chemicals, remove it as soon as possible, wash it according to its care label and allow it to dry completely.
- For electrical work, avoid damp garments and styles with visible metal components; use specific equipment when necessary.
- Improve your visibility in traffic or low-light areas with appropriate garments or accessories when the environment requires it.
- Combine the jacket with other protective equipment (gloves, helmet, eyewear, footwear) when the job requires it.
Storage and maintenance
- Wash and dry the garment following the care label instructions. Do not use bleach or solvents unless specified.
- Air dry in a ventilated place, away from sources of direct heat or prolonged sunlight.
- Store it clean and completely dry, preferably hung, in a cool, dry space, away from oils and corrosive substances.
- Regularly inspect seams, fastenings, elastics and reinforcements. Stop using the jacket if there are tears, burns, excessive looseness or non-functioning fastenings.
- Remove from service or replace the garment if it loses its shape, shows excessive pilling, abnormal stiffness or a persistent odour after washing.
- Do not iron, tumble dry or apply treatments unless permitted by the manufacturer.
Restrictions on use
- Does not replace specialised garments for heat or flame protection, chemicals, cut resistance, electric arc, heavy rain or high visibility, unless the product expressly states so.
- Do not use it if it is damaged, excessively wet, contaminated or does not fit properly.
- Do not modify the garment (cut drawcords, add perforations, iron on patches or logos), as this may compromise its performance.
- Do not use it near rotating machinery if it has loose elements that cannot be secured; choose models without drawcords or dangling parts.
- Keep the garment out of the reach of children; if used on site visits by people not accustomed to such environments, supervision is required.
- People with known sensitivities to certain fabrics or finishes should try the garment briefly before prolonged use.
