Usage Warnings

Wash-basin Pedestals

Safety warnings and precautions

Main risks

  • Injuries from the weight and bulk when handling the pedestal (knocks, crush injuries or falls).
  • Breakage from impact or dropping, with possible loose fragments and cuts.
  • Instability of the basin–pedestal assembly due to poor compatibility, inadequate levelling or uneven support.
  • Slips and floor damage due to water spillage during installation or use.
  • Leaks at the basin connections causing damp, unpleasant odours or mould around the pedestal.
  • Damage to concealed pipes or cables when drilling the wall to fix the basin.

Safe use

  • Check that the pedestal is compatible with the basin model and dimensions and accommodates the pipework.
  • Handle with two people whenever possible; wear gloves and avoid dragging it to prevent damage to edges or floors.
  • Place the pedestal on a firm, level and clean surface, ensuring it sits stably with no rocking.
  • Follow the manufacturer's instructions for the basin and the pedestal; adhere to the specified fixing method and assembly sequence.
  • Before drilling to fix the basin, check there are no cables or pipes in the intended area and turn off the water if applicable.
  • Apply the sealants recommended by the manufacturer and wipe up any spillage immediately to prevent slips.
  • Do not use the pedestal or basin as a step, seat or support; avoid lateral impacts or excessive loads.
  • If you notice creaking, abnormal movement or cracks, stop using it and inspect the installation.

Storage and maintenance

  • Transport and store on a stable, padded surface, protecting edges and corners; do not stack unless indicated.
  • Keep the product away from impacts, vibrations and sudden temperature changes; avoid prolonged exposure to the elements.
  • Clean with a soft cloth and mild soap; avoid abrasives, scouring pads and acidic or corrosive cleaners.
  • Periodically check stability, absence of cracks and the condition of the seals; replace the component if damaged.
  • Visually check that there is no damp or leaks at the trap and connections that run inside or behind the pedestal.
  • Keep the base free of limescale, dirt or sealant residues that could compromise its support.

Restrictions of use

  • Intended for indoor use; do not install outdoors or in areas exposed to frost unless explicitly specified for the product.
  • Do not modify, drill or cut the pedestal.
  • Do not hang accessories or loads from the pedestal or the rim of the basin.
  • Do not use with basins not designed for a pedestal without confirming compatibility of dimensions and pipework clearances.
  • Keep children and pets away during installation and prevent minors from hanging off the basin once installed.
  • Do not use if the pedestal or the basin are cracked, unstable or have deteriorated fixings.
